Dr. Rick Miller joined Riverside Unified School District as Superintendent on January 5, 2009. Dr. Miller has been an educator for 37 years and prior to coming to RUSD was Superintendent of Oxnard School District in Ventura County. Dr. Miller has taught at the elementary and secondary levels and has been an elementary and high school principal. For the past 19 years he has served as Superintendent for three school districts in California and one in Idaho, as well as serving as an adjunct instructor at the university level in both states.

Dr. Miller holds four degrees including a Ph.D. in Education; Ed.Sp. (Education Specialist) in Educational Administration; M.Ed. (Masters in Education) in Educational Administration and Higher Education; and a B.A. in Chemistry.

Dr. Miller has authored a number of professional articles and has presented at state and national conferences. The focus of his career as a school administrator has been on school reform and improved student achievement in diverse settings.

Dr. Miller is Riverside Unified School District’s tenth Superintendent since 1871.

RUSD Preschool programs now accepting applications

Outstanding graduates: John Tulisiak, North High School

Booster shot deadline approaching
If your child will be entering grades 7-12 this fall, they MUST have a Tdap booster shot before registering for the 2011-2012 school year. 
 
Students who do not have written proof of the Tdap booster immunization will not be permitted to attend school this fall.
Tdap protects against three potentially-dangerous diseases: tetanus, diptheria, and whooping cough. Students can get this immunization at their healthcare provider.

Starting Blocks gives RUSD students a boost this summer
starting-blocks.gifStudents enrolled in summer H.E.A.R.T.S programs at Longfellow and Jefferson elementary schools will have a refreshing summer thanks to the Starting Blocks program, a partnership between the Riverside Community College District Foundation and RUSD, working in conjunction with Tilden-Coil Constructors, the Kiwanis Club of Riverside, and the Assistance League of Riverside.

Congratulations to our Remarkable Teens!

Several RUSD students were honored by the Riverside City Council Tuesday as being among the city’s 25 Most Remarkable Teens. And, the Most Remarkable Teen for the City of Riverside also is from RUSD – North High School’s Julia Bu, who has accomplished much, including carrying a 4.66 GPA and co-authoring a published scientific article on Urothermal Synthesis of Crystalline Porous Materials.
